The Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon 2025 is back, a 21.097 km journey through the wonders of Rome, taking place on October 19. The event is organized once again by RomaOstia and RCS Sports & Events, continuing the partnership started in 2016 with the RomaOstia Half Marathon.
With over 17,000 participants in its debut edition, the event has already become the most attended half marathon in Italy. And expectations are high once again: with less than four months to go, over 14,000 runners have already registered, 83% of them from abroad (11,871), confirming Rome’s global appeal.
France remains the leading nation in number of registrations, with the figure more than doubling this year (3,514 vs. 1,586 in 2024), followed by Spain and the UK.
The requested route, pending final approval, remains the same as 2024 and equally breathtaking: entirely mapped through the historic center of Rome, starting from Via del Circo Massimo, near the Rose Garden, and finishing on Via degli Annibaldi, offering a stunning view of the Colosseum. A truly unique course, allowing runners to race through a city that feels like an open-air museum. The 21 km route will pass by some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks: piazza Navona, piazza del Popolo, piazza di Spagna, piazza Venezia, and a scenic view of the Foro Romano.
“With three months to go, the Rome Half Marathon has almost matched last year’s participation numbers. Of the 14,500 runners already registered, 11,800 are international, that’s 83%. These are impressive numbers that confirm the success of our decision to launch the Rome Half Marathon. The 2024 debut was a major success, and we aim even higher this year. This race has enormous potential thanks to a course set in a truly unique open-air museum. Road races have become a valuable asset for the city generating economic and tourist activity, encouraging social participation, and through the involvement of Policlinico Gemelli, promoting prevention and health awareness.” said Alessandro Onorato, Councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion of Roma Capitale.
Wizz Air is confirmed as Title Sponsor for the second consecutive year. “Being Title Sponsor of the 2025 Rome Half Marathon is an extraordinary opportunity for Wizz Air,” said Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air.
“Rome has always been a key strategic base in our network. Supporting such an iconic event allows us to reaffirm our commitment to the city and the running world. We believe in promoting a healthy, active, and accessible lifestyle, and the Rome Half Marathon reflects these values perfectly. Wizz Air shares with runners a sense of determination, resilience, and the spirit of discovery the same qualities that define our airline.”. In addition to the Half Marathon, Saturday’s program includes: the Longevity Run, a 5 km non-competitive run/walk open to everyone, organized in collaboration with Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, to promote physical activity as a key to long-term health. A day dedicated to health awareness, movement, and cardiovascular prevention, with free check-ups to monitor the main risk factors — and a new addition: the event will take place on Saturday, the day before the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon. The start from Viale del Circo Massimo (around 9:30 AM), the route through the Aventino and Ostiense districts and the finish atStadio Nando Martellini, near the Terme di Caracalla.
Also on Saturday, the Dog Run Arcaplanet will take place, a run with your four-legged friends.
This event format, part of the day’s schedule, celebrates the joy of spending active time with your pet while enjoying a fun and engaging sports activity. The route and location will be announced soon.
Once again this year, the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon Village will be hosted at Eataly Roma Ostiense (Piazzale 12 Ottobre 1492). The area outside Eataly will serve as the event hub, open from Thursday to Saturday, and will host four days of sport, running, brand activations and partner experiences.
