With approximately six months to go, the 3rd edition of the Wizz Air Rome Half Marathon by Brooks Running is already shaping up to be a record-breaking event.

A total of 26,000 runners have already registered for Italy’s most popular 21km race, organised by RomaOstia and RCS Sports & Events for Roma Capitale, scheduled for Sunday 18 October.

The presence of international runners is particularly significant, currently accounting for 89% of participants. Performance clearly takes second place to the “Grande Bellezza” of Rome, thanks to a truly unique course in the world.

Another remarkable figure is the participation of women, with 14,000 registrations, representing over 50% of participants and marking an increase of 11 percentage points compared to the 2025 total.

Last October, the Rome Half Marathon saw three athletes complete the race in under one hour. Kenya dominated the finish line, with Simon Maywa winning the men’s race in 59:44 and Regina Cheptoo taking victory in the women’s race in 1:08:26. The best Italian performances came from Lorenzo Martelli and Azzurra Sofiia Yaremchuk.

The numbers of the Rome Half Marathon are incredible,” comments Alessandro Onorato, Councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion of Roma Capitale. “Surpassing last year’s registrations, even six months before the start, is a result that fills us with pride: in just two years, it has already become one of the most important races in the world. It confirms that our decision to create a single official half marathon in the heart of the city was the right one. The most extraordinary figure is the international participation, which stands at 89%, with France (5,000 runners), Spain (3,700) and the United Kingdom (2,400) as the most represented countries so far. It will be a multi-day celebration with major social and economic impact for the territory.”
